How do I make fairy wings for halloween?

I’d like to make fairy wings for halloween, using tights over shaped wires. anybody have any suggestions on type of wire/how to make shapes/cool, unique designs/how to get them to stay on all night, etc, etc.

Isn’t a little early for Halloween?

You like to plan ahead?

coat hanger wire is good, and cheap too!
bend it with a pair of pliers. you want to make 4 teardrop shapes, 2 for each wing. cover them with nylon stockings pulled tight and paint with spray paint.
getting them to stay together is a bit trickier, you will have to sew them to a piece of fabric that will sit in the middle of your back, then attach backpack straps to that.

Yuo could use hangers the metal one those are good.

Ask in San Francisco, I live here, some are cool, but there sure are a lot………

Coat-hanger wire is good, ’cause it keeps its shape well. Only problems are, the wire is a little heavy, and if you use actual coat-hangers they’re already bent up and it’s hard to get the kinks out of them. Try going to a hardware store and find out what kind of wire they’ve got. Maybe there’s some that’s as strong as coat-hanger wire but a little lighter. Plus, you can get it in any length you need. It’s not very expensive, so you can experiment a little.

Try bending the wire around something round, like an old car wheel, or a lamppost or something. That’ll give you nice, round even curves.

Making a way to wear them is a little tricky. You need to leave some length on the ends of the wire so you have something to mount with. Also, bend the ends into an “L” shape so they don’t twist around. Then mount them onto something flat but firm, like a small piece of wood. Then add padding and straps to keep it on. Another way is to use really long pieces of wire, then shape the ends so they hook over your shoulders and around your chest. They’d probably stay on a lot better, but it’s harder to do, and you’d need a lot of padding and to bend the ends of the wires so you don’t get poked in the lungs or anything.

Do a picture search on the Internet for pictures of butterflies, dragonflies, etc. to get ideas for designs.

Use metal Hangers and make your shape then hot glue fabric or feathers on. Or pipe cleaners
