@DanielSherrer Well wikipedia is always a good place to start. Then it all depends on which culture you wish to look at. The basis of the Norse religion can be found in translations of the Poetic Edda and the Prose Edda. Its really up to you
when i moved to holland from america it was in the efteling that got me interested in fairies and elves shame there rebuilding it and makin it more new age ish
try to remember that there where many different groups who sacrificed in different ways some only plants and fruits and some like you say but remember that god (christians)asked for sacrifices so christians arent innocent either
I agree with you. It’s like the Aztecs, in Central America. It seems cruel for us, with a judeochristian vision. We have to change our vision to understand this, and that is dificult for many people. So, they condemn. Easy. The cosmovision is different for each of us. It’s better to accept and understand. (escuse my mistakes, i’m french)
I believe, the idea of human sacrifice can be justified by the idea that pagans believed in reincarnation. They usually offered weak people. People who never could have a future in that days.
I think, they believed that people would have a better live in their next lives. You just have to see it from their vision. For us, the idea of human sacrifice is cruel. But for them… Maybe it was diffrent.
Yes but the killing of warriors and intruders is not what he is suggesting, he is suggesting Pagans sacrificed their own children, virgins, etc (as the christian god had ask for), for which there is no evidence. Look it’s hard to get a full thought into a comment so i left out what i had to for space, and you are right. I have studied Pagan history for over a decade myself, and i think putting an enemies head on a stick & killing your own child for good crops are two very different things!cheers
@PaganAndrews Germania around 17AD the romans began expansion into their tribal territory. The germans would sacrifice any romans they captured to their gods in an incredibly brutal manor, drain their blood into a cauldron somethimes flaying them first. Then their heads would be nailed to trees. Pagans have practiced human sacrifice. Btw i am pagan so you can know this isnt christian dribble.
Well then, it is a shame your christian forefathers didn’t share your attitude. I can tell you the Celt, Germanic, & Norse have been blamed but NEVER proven to take part in such things as mentioned in the bible, or Aztec rituals. I wish you peace in life Davccelion.
@PaganAndrews , no need to be so angry, I was talking of what history call “pagan religions of the ancient world”, including Babylonians and many other, not about one specific group…and we could chat about this long and long, but the intention of my comment was not this!! I just suggested, sit down next to me, no matter what you believe, and just listen to music in peace! Shall we keep on throwing stones to each other?
There has NEVER been any evidence that suggest human sacrifce among Pagans, just propaganda. I guess if we learn from st.patrick tales, then the Pagans simply sacrificed their people til there was no one left. But i can give you bible verses where the judeo-christian god ask for human sacrifices, and if the bible speaks truth then that must be prove enough. With no documented evidence, i suggest you worry about christian human sacrifices my friend.
You’re right. This is definitely not the place to even think about such comparisons. It should be just about the quality and aesthetic sense of this great music.
einfach himmlisch

Oliver Southwood’s Book called ”The Ultimate Book of Sorcery: And the Pagan Way” Is very very good

@FoxpawsSilvertongue
where exactly could i find a website or book to research those ancient pagan ideals and practices and faiths?
@leton96
at the site of the band you can download an intire album
I can accept the ancient pagan ideals and practices and faiths. It’s just the neo-paganism that I cannot deal with. It’s such a sham.
On another note, this band is amazing
