Ever since Reagan raised the national debt ceiling to 2 trillion, it has raised annually without question.
I know that spending and big govt will be what destroys us, but its not just the leftists who support it - the right wing of the neocon party supported it for 8 years.
Didn’t you listen to Ron Paul’s speech at CPAC? He said BIG government started with Nixon and Nixon was sure no a Liberal.

Virgod …..you really need to get out and talk to the actual human beings that you are debasing.
Having helped to feed many homeless people in my time I can tell you with 100% certainty that some of them once had homes , and businesses and wives and kids and were once contributing members of their communities.
It’s not that they believe in “salvation” through big government - it’s that they want “control” of the “little people” (that’s you and me) which they believe they can accomplish through big government.
Who said anything about salvation? And so-called conservatives like Ronald Reagan and George Bush have grown government more than any “liberals” who’ve been elected in the last 40 years. Learn some history and your own ideology’s fairy tales, and stop being such a hypocrite.
Lacking ambition and a sense of entitlement Is reinforced by being told that they deserve to have a piece of you success. They are told that it is not their fault if they fail, its society’s fault.
Someone could ask nearly the very same question about conservatives and Christianity. ‘The science is conclusive to the contrary’.
Because they seek utopia on earth through fallible human hands. They believe that if you confiscate enough wealth from enough people that they can make heaven on earth for everyone. Just like healthcare, they tell us that they’ll cover all the people, all the time, for any illness, pre-existing or soon-to-be, at a low cost, with no tax raises, no deficit, no waste, fraud or abuse, and they’ll know exactly where the money goes, it’ll be efficient and high quality. All they need to do is take enough money. Fairy tale indeed.

virgod - Don’t you know that from rags to riches was the American battle-cry for all the world? What do you think the Statue of Liberty represents. The problem in our modern age is the the rich want it all for themselves and 99% of the nation’s money has settled in the larders of the wealthiest 2%.
America is not what it was and the Republicans want to make very darn sure their great wealth is not divided amoung a higher percentage of Americans and would rather kick out those who are enticed here by the ‘now’ great American lie.

I believe in many cases it has something to do with this age where a lot of kids did not grow up with dads. Many people grew up under single moms. In some cases, they did have dads but they were useless dads or wimps.
A dad is supposed to teach a kid to be responsible and to take charge of their life. Liberals never learned this. The government has had to step into many families and play some of the role of father-the only role it could play was a sort of breadwinner-giving a check to the single mom. So today’s liberals see the government as the father they never had and only recognize its job as a check deliverer. Well, sometimes they do see it as an organization that keeps them from doing stupid things like a dad is supposed to teach and they allow it to make victimless crime laws (seatbelt, helmet, etc) but mostly just see it as a substitute breadwinner.
